A Weekend in Fernandina Beach Florida is Just What the Doctor Ordered!

You know what they say, "life is better at the beach!" Sometimes a weekend getaway to a charming beach town is just plain good for the soul!!! I stumbled upon the quaint town of Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, Florida as I was looking for a getaway close to Jacksonville Airport. What a gem of a find! I was enchanted with Amelia's charm and relaxing vibe from the moment I arrived.
Nuzzled up to the Georgia border in Northern Florida, with Cumberland Island as a neighbor, Amelia Island is removed from the hustle and bustle of Jacksonville, but close enough to access if you miss the city life (which I seriously doubt!).
There are plenty of lodging options (It all depends if you prefer to stay close to the beach or in the historic district). You can either stay at the Florida House Inn and enjoy Saturday & Sunday Brunch at Leddy's Porch http://www.floridahouseinn.com/. There is also the Elizabeth Point Lodge http://www.elizabethpointelodge.com/, Williams House http://www.williamshouse.com/ , or the more upscale Omni Amelia Island Plantation https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/amelia-island-plantation or the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island
http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/AmeliaIsland/Default.htm. If you are on a budget, you can find a nice room at the Amelia Hotel By The Beach http://www.ameliahotel.com/
If you visit Amelia in the summer, and take the Amelia River Cruise http://ameliarivercruises.com/, there is a chance you will see some of the many wild horses of Cumberland Island. What a sight!
So the next time you find yourself in your office stressed out, remember there is a little slice of heaven in Florida calling your name!
