A Trip Back to My Spirit Country!

How Iceland Became My Home Away From Home...

all seasons in one day 60 °F

When people hear how many times I have been to Iceland they ask why so many times? Do you go other places as well? Most people have their favorite restaurant, I have a favorite country! In certain aspects, Iceland reminds me of myself. She is beautiful, wild, temperamental, a force to be reckoned with. She commands respect and she gets it! For a small country, Iceland is big on personality!

Iceland is one of those places who's natural beauty is breathtaking. Growing up in New York, you quickly appreciate the vastness of the landscapes.

One of the highlights from my trip, was visiting Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. You often hear stories about global warming, but once you get to witness the glaciers melting at an alarming rate for yourself, it stays with you and makes you want to be more responsible. It's disheartening that future generations may not have a chance to see this magnificent sight.

I enjoyed spending the endless days of the midnight sun in nature.

I'm already planning my next visit to the land of fire and ice! I cannot wait to see what else Iceland has in store.
Takk fyrir síðast Island!

Great photos!

I am speechless. Each visit you make is like peeling layers off of history. You're right, it's tragic to imagine losing the beauty of Iceland and the ecological impact cannot be described. Well done Grasshopper! Your pictures are magnificent! Oh what stories you have to tell.

It´s an interesting place.
I would like to know some tips for a trip to Iceland.
1. Budget for a week.
2. What month do you recommend?
3. Hotel or Hostel?
Thanks for sharing your photos and experience with us.

Hi Adolfo! It all depends on what you expect from your trip. Do you want summer activities such as hiking, biking, 24 hour sunlight, etc. Then June/July is perfect. Or would you rather go ice caving, glacier hiking and northern lights chasing, then you would love winter.

Iceland can be very pricey so if you're not picky where you stay then a hostel is perfect. There are a few budget hotels and AirBNB are available if you're traveling with people.

You should plan on spending $80-$100 a day USD for two people and around $50 USD if you're traveling solo. If you drive, its cheaper to rent a car to visit the attractions as tours can run between $100-$300 USD, depending on what you want to do.

In the end, Iceland is always a good idea and you should visit in both winter and summer as it feels like a different place.
